Resources
For The Art & Alchemy of Japanese Wholefoods

WHERE TO FIND THE HIGHEST QUALITY JAPANESE INGREDIENTS
When looking for suppliers, I look for local, busy businesses with a high turnover, minimal packaging and owners with integrity.
I am based in Sydney NSW and I am building this resource, for us all to use, wherever that may be. I am including businesses I know and trust in Australia and businesses I have used overseas. Businesses I have not used, in other states or countries, I will make orange If you can attest to the quality on offer in these locations, please let us know.
Please make suggestions for your state or country and I will add them here in orange.
Make your suggestions in the Resources topic, in the community . I will add more details and suppliers through the course

Honest to goodness
You can shop online using the offer code H2GHOLLY10 which the have kindly supplied to you for use. This is a fantastic place for wholefoods in general, grains, beans etc and some good quality Japanese staples. They stock Carwari products, which are also great quality and I like their unpasteurised miso's
Spiral Foods
See their website for their full range of excellent products and search there for a local stockist. Some Spiral products are available in better supermarkets and widely in health food stores. I have been using their products, for the past 40 years ! They have a range of traditionally made and organic products which are relatively affordable, when compared to the artisanal products available. They have an excellent and broad range of Macrobiotic items and the quality is excellent. They are my go to for organic soy sauce, umeboshi, kuzu, and more.
Tokyo Mart
Shop in stores across Australia check where is local to you
Japanese grocery stores offer a big range of products, many do not match my criteria for quality and wholefood status but, you will find good products here just choose consciously. Jun Pacific are long established importers of Japanese food and equipment.
Staff are generally very helpful and knowledgeable, if you are looking for something in particular. They to sell Cawari products. Their yuzu kosho both red and green are delicious. The also sell other, best quality mirin and soy but you need to read labels- did I already say that!

The Good Grub Hub
Shop online and check stockists. Import the very best quality, artisanal and traditionally made and innovative Japanese products. They sell online or through distributors around Australia. You will find umibudo sea grapes seaweed here and so much more. These are very high end and priced accordingly. It is still worth scrutinising the labels! They stock fresh bottled sudachi and yuzu juice and fabulous Japanese black sesame paste.
Blackmarket Sake
Shop online and they have a few stockists too. Sell a very wide range of fantastic sake and a few high grade, essentials for cooking, imported from producers in Japan. You will find Kanzuri fermented chilli paste here and the Usukuchi Shoyu you see me using in the videos.
